FAQs

Why go to therapy?

Therapy can help you understand and reframe your problems and concerns. It can teach you specific skills to help you find more satisfaction from your work and your relationships. A therapist can provide support, insight, and a new strategy for approaching your life. Therapy is right for anyone curious about their patterns, interested in creating greater self-awareness, healing from trauma, and making active life changes.

How do I choose the right therapist?

The key to successful therapy is a connected, trusting relationship between you and your therapist. It is important for you to feel that your therapist is knowledgeable, listening well and is responsive to what you share, both about yourself and about what’s working (or not working) in therapy. Sometimes it is helpful to see a therapist for several sessions before making a final decision. If you have questions, ask your therapist—even if it feels a little uncomfortable to do so. Once you have confirmed that your therapist is qualified and experienced, your feelings are a good guide. Pay attention to your instincts. A competent therapist will assist you in clarifying your thoughts and feelings and provide you with helpful tools and feedback, but you will always make your own choices.

How long will I be in therapy?

Because each of us is unique, there is no single answer to this question. The length of therapy depends on factors such as the types of concerns you have, the complexity of your situation, and what you are hoping to accomplish. Sometimes brief interventions are very helpful. In other cases, longer periods of time are invested in an in-depth exploration of your personal history and in support for change. The choice is always yours and can be discussed with your therapist.

Do you provide virtual therapy?

Yes, therapy can be done remotely with great success. I use a HIPAA-compliant platform to provide remote therapy.

* Mental health and wellness are important investments. I am an out-of-network provider and can provide you with a receipt to submit for reimbursement if this is covered in your policy or HSA/FSA. I am happy to answer questions or help you navigate this process. Many insurance policies have out-of-network benefits. I recommend calling your insurance provider and asking “What are my out of network psychotherapy benefits?” and they can offer specifics about what your plan covers.

Here are some of the reasons Reframe has decided to stay a private pay group:

• You, the client, have full control over healthcare records as we do not release any information to your insurance or anyone without your written consent

• No diagnosis is required to start or continue services with Reframe as this is a requirement by insurance to determine whether or not the counseling you choose warrants being covered

• No limitations on how often or how long you receive services, you get to decide with your counselor what makes the most sense for your individual needs

• No surprise fees if insurance denies a claim, you know your exact financial responsibility upfront

• Clients can still use HSA or FSA funds to cover private pay fees for mental health services

If finances are a concern or barrier, please let me know. I do offer limited sliding scale fee sessions.
